March, mad hares and winter a little stubborn in the changing weather, but there is some fun and eccentricity in this selection. As we are wont, we’ll start with the Crémant from Limoux to refresh and enjoy. We’ve also included an excellent rosé from the folk at St. Mitre for those days when the sun is yielding a hint of warmth. There are classic whites: the Haut Févrie Moulin de la Gustais, Muscadet – mineral, with grapefruit and citrus notes – and the delicate and lean Petit Chablis from Malandes. Olivier Pithon and Olivier Durand, from their respective parts of the Mediterranean South, bring their terroirs and adherence to the tenets of biodynamic viticulture. The Cuvée Laïs; supple, white flower, pepper and citrus and the Toutes Aures; fresh, clean, hints of honeysuckle and stone fruit… Whites to delight!

Burgundy leads the parade of reds with our latest vintage release of the St. JOHN Mâcon. As we head into Beaujolais country, there is La Sambinerie, Beaujolais Villages from Richard Rottiers. Trapadis’ Côtes du Rhone 2018 is textural, savoury, juicy and moreish. Next, we venture west over the southern Massif Central, dropping down onto the Pic St. Loup, which overlooks the vineyards of Château de Lascaux. Their ‘Sans Sulphites’ has depth, black cherry, some spice and elegance. And from Colombière, the Coste Rouge is made from Negrette, unique to Fronton. Lastly, it’s the perfect time of year for our Boulevard Napoléon Carignan. The newly released 2016 is complex and supple, with black and crimson fruits. Just the ticket in the Hatter’s hat.
