A NEW YEAR'S EVE EXTRAVAGANZA 2024

What a feast, what a party, what a way to welcome the impending year! As the band plays in the bar to celebrate your arrival, we start the night with the elegance of our own Champagne (or a gin and tonic if those are the bubbles which tickle your fancy) paired with a delightful array of canapés to whet your appetite for the evening ahead. And then, the feast! At long tables, served on generously heaped sharing platters as befits such a jolly occasion, it’s quite a spread. 

Shatteringly crisp pig skin greets you as you take your seats, and piles of frond-frilled carrots and tumbles of boiled eggs hark back to our opening menu 30 years ago, encouraging you to crack shells and break the ice with friends old and new. 

A cacophony of crustaceans and other marine delights, the most spankingly fresh morsels from the day boats, are captured in a cocktail - what comfort and luxury! Laden platters of perfectly roasted rare-breed pork will follow, paired with the richness and depth of prune-studded, trotter-braised cabbage and  plump white beans. And in true celebratory style Baked Alaskas take pride of place on the table, golden meringue giving way to a silky core of chocolate ice cream.

You may need a little pick-me-up - Mince Pies and Sherry will fortify you for the revelries ahead, then dust the crumbs from your lapels and sequins and head down to the bar where lights dim, the band starts up once more and the dance floor awaits. At 1am your weary feet will carry you home with sated appetites and hearts for the year ahead.
