Setting The Agenda
Spring is coming and our fields and gardens have certainly been watered in readiness…! Since this is my first blog post of the year, it seems appropriate to set the agenda with some cultural notes.
Firstly theatre: those of you who have been paying attention might have picked up on our involvement with a certain new theatre alongside the Thames at Tower Bridge. I urge you: do go to the Theatre! You cannot beat the real thing, particularly when the production comes right out amongst you, enabled by the amazing adaptable design of the auditorium. Watch Chelsea? How much..?! If you like the rough and tumble of the match then instead be a groundling, be enthused, drink wine!
And then to literature, here are two books that will be your starter pack to wine. Firstly the “best seller” Cork Dork by Bianca Bosker. At times the NYC voice grates and those of us who know, know that it is not always quite correct (but hey, there’s the screenplay to think of). Then to keep it simple, Jancis Robinson’s “The 24 Hour Wine Expert” at £4.99. Just promise me that you’ll always spend more on a bottle!
That’ll set you up for the year ahead, don't let the bastards grind you down! And speaking of those barstards, I’m planning my overdue revenge for the killing of Youngs the Brewery... and I’ve been drinking English Wines (“British" wines are not British, but that’s a story for another day!)
