Juicy - Plums - Strawberry - Luscious

A rarely seen grape, even more so as a single varietal. Lledoner pelut (led-on-er pull-it) is more often found in blends around the Roussillon and stretching down into the Tarragona region of north-east Spain. this wine develops strawberry and raspberry aromas with scents of the “garrigue” (thyme, rosemary, etc.). Long with silky tannins, it is an elegant, feminine wine. A variety not generally reputed for its capacity for ageing, this is an excellent wine to lay down. Like the Grenache, it will reveal intense red berry aromas with time, as if it gets younger each year. And, it can be chilled – so perfect for Summer and Autumnal drinking.

Domaine la Colombette
Producer Profile Domaine la Colombette
Situated in the Libron valley above Beziers, Vincent and his father Francois Pugibet have been at the forefront of innovation for the past two decades, be it low alcohol wines or experimental viticulture with ancient wild vines. We have been working together for over 20 years and Trevor has watched Francois’ careful, intuitive touch pass on to his son Vincent. They inherited the Domaine from their forebears; founded at the end of the 19th Century by Louis Pugibet. Their vineyard holdings have increased significantly with two other sites nestled behind Beziers. Beyond making good wine with a sense of place, they are committed to research and innovation in the vineyard.
