Dense - Powerful - Dark Berries - Pepper

Produced from winemaker Raimond`s best vineyard sites, this is dense and powerful with a luscious blend of dark berry and fresh red fruit. The local garrigue landscape is well represented with some light herbal top notes, and on the finish there are exciting peppery spice notes which are typical of Syrah and Grenache planted in these areas. The altitude of the vineyards help to retain acidity, which prevents this wine from being overwhelming on the palette and also sets it up well for some ageing. Perfect for richer meat dishes, perhaps a beef bourguignon!

Grenache Noir 40%
Carignan 30%
Syrah 20%
Cinsault 10%

Château de Roquefort
Producer Profile Château de Roquefort
Owner and winemaker Raimond de Villeneuve is deeply concerned about the health of his vineyards and the impact of his work upon the environment. After working in various other elements of the industry he took over running Chateau de Roquefort in 1995. The vineyards are set high in the hills of Provence, 10km away from the coast. This altitude, coupled with the cooling influence of the Mediterranean Sea, give the grapes slightly more hang time and often there is more complexity in his finished wines than other wines from this region. There are pockets of flint soil across his vineyards which impart a notable minerality and freshness.
